Highway to Hell

For all you zombies who thought, "you know what AC/DC really needs? A horn section."

Tom Morello looks like he's about ready to die of joy. And there's a certain delight to be had in watching Tom, Nils and Steve have themselves a little coolest headwear competition.

  1. THAT. WAS. AWESOME.

But really, AC/DC pegged the coolness meter already when they used bagpipes on "It's A Long Way To The Top".

Also, that was like the first riff I learned on my guitar. Bruce, Tom , you guys want to take that into BOC five-axe territory, you give me a call, 'k?

  2. I just heard Red House Painters' cover of "Don't Fear the Reaper" and boy howdy what I wouldn't give to hear the E Street Band do that now. (Or the BÖC Street Band, I guess.)

I love how assured Bruce and the whole band seems. It doesn't feel like any of them just learned it right before the show--it seems like, as with the rest of us, they've heard it hundreds of times and playing it was just sort of a formality.

    1. Frankly, I think it's about time Springsteen did "Memphis, Egypt"

  3. Have you ever heard Espers doing Flaming Telepaths? Well, here you go:

OF COURSE playing it was just a formality. Like on the Loud Family tape, where they are backstage and the guitarist plays the riff from "Spirit Of Radio", it's just one of those songs that EVERYONE can fall into.

Tom Morello: touring with Bruce Springsteen. He's gotta feel like Mark Wahlberg's character in Rockstar, having just landed a gig fronting his hero's band, and he can't stop smiling long enough to put on the proper heavy metal scowl for the promo shots.

    1. He's gotta feel like Brian Fallon when Bruce walked onstage to join Gaslight Anthem for "The '59 Sound."
